What GDC Looks For
Insight
Genuine understanding of what went wrong - the single most important factor GDC evaluates
Evidence
Documented remediation: CPD, reflection, supervision - submitted early and structured clearly
Change
Verifiable changes to practice that reduce the risk of the same concern arising again

A GDC notification is stressful. The right response built now creates the best possible outcome.

Most dental professionals facing GDC concerns have never been through this before. The evidence is clear: those who engage early, demonstrate genuine insight, and build a structured remediation portfolio achieve better outcomes than those who wait. These courses are built to support that early, targeted engagement.

Professionalism & Professional Standards for Dentists & Dental Professionals

Built around the GDC Standards for the Dental Team - the framework GDC uses to assess every dental professional they investigate. Examines what professional conduct requires in dental practice and how GDC committees evaluate compliance when concerns have arisen.

  • GDC Standards for the Dental Team - what each standard requires in practice
  • How GDC distinguishes a clinical error from a professional failing under the Standards
  • Demonstrating to GDC that professional standards have been genuinely understood and adopted

Ethics & Ethical Standards

Dental professionals reach for this category when GDC concerns involve an ethical failing - consent, patient rights, confidentiality, or conduct that conflicts with the ethical foundations of the GDC Standards.

GDC assesses whether you understand the ethical principle you breached. Ethics courses provide direct evidence of that engagement.
£65

Ethics for Healthcare Professionals

A broader grounding in applied healthcare ethics - useful when a GDC concern touches multiple ethical areas rather than one principle. Covers moral reasoning frameworks, real-world dilemmas, and how regulators assess ethical fitness.

Ethical Boundaries with Patients & Colleagues

Boundary concerns are among the most common and serious issues in GDC cases. This course examines where professional boundaries lie, how they erode gradually, and what genuine boundary maintenance looks like.

Professionalism & Professional Standards

Conduct falling below the GDC professional standards - communication failures, documentation lapses, or behaviour incompatible with registration - is the most common reason dental professionals face fitness to practise concerns.

A course mapped to the specific GDC Standard at issue demonstrates you understand what the obligation requires.

Professionalism for Healthcare Professionals

A grounding in professionalism across the healthcare context - useful when a GDC concern straddles conduct, teamwork, and general professional behaviour rather than one specific area.

£45

Ensuring Effective Communication

Communication failures underlie more GDC concerns than almost any other factor. This course examines what effective professional communication looks like and where it most commonly breaks down.

£45
1.5 CPD pts

Teamwork and Collaboration

GDC concerns about behaviour toward colleagues fall under the GDC standards on working with colleagues. This course examines what GDC expects and how to demonstrate genuine improvement.

Probity, Honesty & Candour

GDC probity concerns include dishonest documentation, failure to be open after adverse events, and financial misconduct. Probity failures are among the most serious matters GDC investigates.

Probity failures challenge the fundamental trustworthiness GDC requires of every registrant. Completing a probity course early demonstrates you take that obligation seriously.
£65

Probity for Healthcare Professionals

Probity is the word GDC uses for honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness - covering everything from accurate form-completion to declarations to employers to financial conduct. If your letter from GDC mentions probity, this is where you start.

£45
1.5 CPD pts

Privacy, Consent, and Chaperone

Consent issues - inadequate processes, failure to involve patients in decisions - are among the most common causes of GDC referrals. This course covers what valid consent requires and how chaperone obligations connect to it.

Fitness to Practise & Remediation

For dental professionals who want to understand the GDC process and build a remediation response that case examiners and committees find credible and specific.

Insight is the most important factor in every GDC case. These courses provide the frameworks to demonstrate genuine, structured understanding.

Module on Insight

Of all the factors GDC evaluates in a remediation response, genuine insight matters most. This module explains what insight means in the regulatory context - not self-criticism, but demonstrable understanding of what went wrong, why it happened, and why it cannot happen again.

£45
1.5 CPD pts

Module on Reflection

Reflection is a skill, not a natural instinct. This module teaches structured reflection - not vague statements about feeling remorseful, but analysis of what happened, what it means, and how your practice has changed as a result.

1.5 CPD pts

Module on Remediation

Remediation is not just completing courses. It is a documented process of change that GDC can evaluate. This module explains what a robust response looks like - what to include, how to sequence it, and how to present it so examiners can see genuine improvement.

Fitness to Practise Course

A comprehensive overview of the fitness to practise framework - what triggers investigations, how cases are assessed, and what outcomes are possible. Useful for dental professionals who are new to the process and need to understand what they are dealing with.

How to Ensure a Similar Mistake Will Not Be Repeated

One of the central questions in any GDC case is whether the same thing will happen again. This course builds the tools to answer that convincingly - identifying root causes, implementing personal safeguards, and documenting changes that reduce the risk of recurrence.

Professional Boundaries & Trust

Boundary concerns in dental practice - from inappropriate patient relationships to social media conduct - are treated seriously because they affect patient safety and public trust in the profession.

When trust is at issue, GDC must be satisfied it can be restored. These courses address where boundary concerns arise and what credible change looks like.
£65

£65

Professionalism & Boundaries in Social Media

Social media has created new categories of professional boundary violation. Inappropriate online conduct - from patient contact to public commentary on cases - generates GDC referrals as readily as conduct in the clinic.

Rebuilding Trust with Patients and the Regulator

A GDC investigation damages trust. This course focuses on what genuine trust-rebuilding looks like - not performative gestures but sustained changes in behaviour that colleagues, employers, and patients can observe and verify.

£65

Dignity and Non-Discrimination

Concerns about discriminatory treatment, failure to maintain patient dignity, or biased professional conduct are taken seriously by GDC under professional standards and equalities law. This course examines what those obligations require.

Clinical Competence and Patient Safety

Where concerns relate to clinical competence - errors in judgement, outdated practice, or knowledge gaps - this course addresses the competence domain of the GDC Standards and how to demonstrate competence has been restored.

How to Build Your GDC Remediation Response

A credible remediation response is not a list of certificates. It is a structured body of evidence that tells a coherent story of genuine change.

1

Identify Which GDC Standard Is at Issue

Read your GDC notification and identify which Standard for the Dental Team the concern relates to. This determines which courses are most evidentially relevant.

2

Choose and Start Your Courses Now

Select two or three courses most directly relevant and begin immediately. Early completion carries more evidential weight.

3

Complete, Reflect, and Certificate

Work through each course. Your CPD UK certificate is issued automatically on completion and is ready for immediate submission.

4

Build and Submit Your Remediation Portfolio

Combine certificates with a reflective statement, evidence of practice changes, and employer or supervisor reports where relevant. Submit with your GDC response.

Our Mission

FTP Courses exists because UK healthcare professionals facing regulatory investigations deserve more than generic CPD. They deserve targeted, evidence-based learning that directly addresses the standards their regulator is assessing - and they deserve it to be available immediately, when they need it most.

We built this platform specifically for nurses, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals who have received a letter from their regulator and need to respond well. Every course is written for that specific purpose - not adapted from routine CPD, but built from the ground up for the regulatory context.

Our content is developed with awareness of how UK regulatory bodies assess insight, remediation, and professional fitness. We understand what case examiners look for, how panels evaluate evidence, and what genuinely good remediation looks like. That understanding shapes every word of every course.

What Dentists Say After Using FTP Courses

Verified experiences from UK-registered dentists who used FTP Courses as part of their GDC remediation response. Names and details shared with permission.

★★★★★

A GDC concern about consent processes could have ended my career. The consent and ethics modules were directly relevant to the specific standards GDC had questioned. I completed three courses in two weeks, wrote my reflective statement using the frameworks provided, and submitted everything through my defence organisation. The case was resolved without a hearing.

★★★★★

The GDC Standards for the Dental Team course helped me understand not just what I had done but why it was considered a professional failing rather than a clinical error. That distinction was crucial to my response. My solicitor said it was the most important insight in my entire submission.

★★★★★

As a dental core trainee, the investigation process was completely unfamiliar to me. FTP Courses gave me the structure I needed. The Fitness to Practise module explained the process clearly, and the Ethics module gave me the content for a strong reflective statement.

What Dentists and Dental Professionals Ask Before They Enrol

Will completing these courses help my GDC case?
Completing targeted CPD is part of what a credible GDC remediation response looks like. GDC case examiners look for evidence that you have engaged with the relevant Standard, reflected genuinely on the concern, and taken concrete steps to address it. Certified courses completed early and paired with a reflective statement form part of that evidence.
When in the GDC process should I start?
As early as possible. Early remediation carries more weight than evidence produced close to a hearing. Starting before you have responded to GDC signals genuine engagement rather than strategic compliance.
Which courses should I choose?
Identify which GDC Standard the concern relates to and use the category tabs. If your letter mentions ethics or consent, start with Ethics. If it mentions professional conduct, start with Professionalism. The Module on Insight applies to every GDC case.
How many courses should I complete?
Two or three targeted courses is the right approach for most GDC cases. For serious concerns heading toward a Professional Conduct Committee hearing, more may be appropriate. Your solicitor or defence organisation can advise.
Are CPD UK certificates accepted by GDC?
All courses carry CPD UK certification. GDC does not maintain an approved course list, but CPD UK certification is the standard measure of professional development accreditation. Certificates are in PDF format for direct submission to GDC or through your legal representative.
